Australia: One arrest in direct action against political leaders who destroyed Chester forest

Today at 8am a protester unhappy with the Forest Products Commission’s logging of WA’s Native forests locked on at FPC headquarters in Perth. A 30 year old man was arrested. The activist was jumped upon by a WA Police officer while locked on to the vehicle.

Activists say the officer was upset with the “no comment legal option” of all citizens. Mr Cody was taken away and charged with trespass. A spokesperson for the action says: “we asked that Dr Paul Biggs be sacked for financial mismanagement. This was on the basis that they would be logging Chester Forest (some of the highest bio-diversity on the planet) at a loss. $56,000 will be the net revenue and the costs will be huge…”

It’s a shame they’re logging the Chester Forest. The forests are so fragile in Australia. I lived there for several years in the the 1960s.
